Was thinking about my uncertain future again, and looked up this little gem from Richard Brodhead that he e-mailed me back in the fall:

All you can do is keep as many options active as you feel truly attracted to, see what choices you have, make one, then trust to time and your own inner efforts to shape the whole life you want. “Oh, Time, Strength, Cash, and Patience!” as they say in Moby Dick.

It still sounds like good advice to me. I am currently splitting my remaining weeks in Boston between class, reading/judging poems (they’re actually paying me now), and re-organizing the basement of a cute gay-married couple. You know, typical summer activities.

Thanks for posting this, it was nice to be reacquainted with that thought.  I too am totally unsure of my future. Except, I know I’m going to New York for July and . I might get a banjo. Or I might make it my goal to cross the quadrants of the united states as many times as Paradise within the next few years… although that’s probably my most unproductive and terrible idea yet…
